About You
Hello and welcome! Thank you for stumbling into my world. Im here to help navigate you through all your design goals, questions and decisions., Designing a space can feel very overwhelming. In a world where everything is so commercialized, I want to deliver an experience that feels truly special. Our homes are a place where we can reflect our most desirable selves, connect with our experiences, change our mood and tell an authentic story. Everyone wants a successful outcome and that comes with experience, understanding scale, balance, colour theory, pattern, lighting and so much more to achieve a harmonious space. Together we can avoid a copy pasted version of someone else and create a space that feels personal, intentional, and uniquely yours. Please feel free to reach out to me about anything.
About Me
I want to get to know you, so it's only fair you get to know me. I’m Maryum, a freelance designer and finishing artist with a deep love for creating meaningful spaces.
My design journey began in 2021 when I purchased my first home — a neglected fixer-upper in Welland, Ontario. After moving over a dozen times in just a few years, finally putting down roots felt like the beginning of something special.
With the support of family and friends, I poured everything I had into transforming that house into a home. It was during those long nights and dusty days that I fell in love with design — not just the aesthetics, but the process: the problem-solving, the storytelling, the creativity behind every choice.
I began to study design, learning the history, principles, elements and work of other established designers, my confidence grew and that passion quickly turned into a pursuit. From experimenting with bold finishes to visualizing full-scale transformations, I’ve seen firsthand how great design can change the way we feel, live, and connect with our spaces.
Today, I help others do the same — bringing warmth, vision, and thoughtful intention to each project I take on. Whether you’re starting fresh or looking to reimagine a space you’ve lived in for years, I’d love to help you uncover your home’s full potential.
About Style
Most people are under the impression they have to pick one design style and stick to it to design successfully and, though that may be true in some cases, in others it can start to look flat, outdated and impersonal. Most design styles are reactions and adaptations to different periods in history. Knowing how and when to mix styles is an art, you have to understand the past, find relationships, consider your architecture and look at pieces as a whole, rather than individually. I love designing in many ranges of styles but feel very drawn to a transitional approach. Featuring notions from the past and effortlessly blending with a contemporary twist keeps things interesting, current and timeless.
